Notification Overload!

There once was a time when the only way to recieve emails and check for facebook messages etc was to log into your computer and check. It may be several days before you would look however there was that element of curiosity. However due to modern technology we no longer have the issue of wondering.

The main annoyance for me is facebook. Due to the creation of apps I no longer need to go on my laptop to get updates or even open the app on my phone, it pings every time there is a slight movement on my page! In addition to this my ipad also has a facebook app. It doesnt ping but it lights up or appears at the top of my screen if i have a notification.

Now I know I can turn them off but when I'm out and about its handy when my phone tells me if something happens and if I'm on my ipad it means I don't have to check every two minutes but heres the thing that reeeealllyyyyy gets on my nerves... When I'm sitting on my laptop with the facebook tab open, watching something on my ipad with my phone sitting next to me.  Then someone say, writes me a message on fb chat. The tab flashes and makes a noise, my iapd lights up aaaanndddd my phone makes that annoying pinging noise...every time I recieve a message! After like the 5th time I get so pissed off I have to start ignoring people.

Thanks technology but can't you do some kind of syncing thing where you only notify me on the thing closest too me?!

Ellen DeGeneres Show!

Quite a random post but honestly the Ellen DeGenres show season 10 has to be THEE best thing on tv right now!!

I'm sure most of you have heard of Ellen yet with her show being on mid morning and the fact that its an American TV show means most of us won't be as obsessed as me, especially with competative morning shows such as Jeremy Kyle!

Anyways, its only bee the premier week and I'm hooked! So far shes had such great moments such PSY (Gangman Style) on teaching Britney Spears how to do the Gangman dance! And Patrick Dempsey posting the picture on twitter live on the show where she looked mortal.

However I have 2 favourites which I have to share. Firstly lots of you guys will have seen the video of the little Essex girls Sophia Grace and Rosie singinig Niki Minaj - Superbass on youtube...they have returened! Already, they have been to the VMA's to interview celebrities (hilarious!) and have their own section 'Tea Time with Spohia Grace and Rosie' where they have girlie chat with celebrities. I swear there like professionals!

My favourite moment so far.... Ellen has just recieved a Hollywood walk of fame star (congrats!) and she puts out a tip jar, a camera and a mic and randomly chats to people while they are walking by and invites them to the show there and then...legend. You have to watch it to understand.

Anyways, my point is watch the Ellen DeGeneres show :). Sky, channel 'Really', 9am & 4pm. If your at work (like a normal person) record it. As well as all the celebrities there are inspirational people welcomed onto the show and dreams are made true which most of us would envy!

The diet will start on Monday...

OMG, so frustrated with myself!

Im 99.9% sure I'm not the only one doing this, but you know when your like - right on Monday the diet begins. This happens on a weekly basis for me at the minute.

It starts with the thought that my diet isn't too great and combined with the fact that I do very little to no exercise at the moment I repetedly tell myself - this needs to change. For some reason Mondays always seem like the best day for a new beginning. First day of the week, weekend is past and you always think, this is going to be it. To prepare you sneak in that last big boozing session on the friday/saturday and state that its the last time your going to drink for a couple of months. Then on Sunday you eat all the junk food that you can possibly fit in and that 'last takeout' for tea and tell yourself that your just going to have one a month.

Then Monday morning comes. Disaster strikes. Sometimes it starts off well when you have a bowl of cereal for breakfast and mabye a wee bananna. Then I'll mabye even make lunch to take to work. But somehow by lunchtime, something always goes wrong. Now for me, I don't eat cakes, sweets, chocolate or biscuits simply because I'm not a huge fan, so I have no idea how I do it! Then I make the excuse that I don't have time to go to the gym or that it's too expensive yet this week for example I've been out for 3 meals and its only Thursday!

What is the solution?! I've dont it plenty times before and it's just getting into that routine but if it doesn't stop now, I'll be rolling around and obesity will take over! I don't even like eating!!!!! Need a hobbie! Owell diet starts on Monday...

Blackberry v iPhone

Sooo I'm 5 months overdue on an upgrade and I'm paying a ridiculous amount each month, which having checked, my contract on my phone is almost £30 chaper than what I pay atm (oh the money I cold have saved!)

The last couple of years I have been attached to my blackberry, everything about it! I love that it has an actual keypad, I love having blackberry messenger (although it does drive me mad when you can see someone has read your message and hasn't replied!) I love my sky sports app annnd I love that it looks so cute!...plus it's had no nervous breakdowns! Very reliable phone.

However, everyone keeps telling me to get an iPhone...what is it about iPhones that are so special?? Being the clumsiest person in the world I'm almost certain to drop it and recently every second status on facebook is people complaining about smashing there screen. And the amount of times I have seen people moan about how short the battery life is and that the screen keeps freezing. I'm aware that  there are amazing apps, and that it can all be synced with your iPad (which I have and people say is a reason I should get the iPhone :s) and iPod etc but surely the cons outweigh the pros? I have an ipad, why do I need an iPhone?

Anyone who can shed any light on this situation, please do. I'm 80% sure a new blackberry is on the cards as I don't fancy paying for a new iPhone screen every month but with everyone telling me to get an iPhone I feel like I'm missing something...

Car Shopping!

Although I passed my test 4 years ago I've had no real need for a car. Living in Edinburgh where the majority of people don't even have a licence as busses are so regular and very cost effective I just insured second party on my mums car.

However now that time has came where I need my own car and with dad generously willing to help me out, the car search began. Approaching the first garage we peacefully had a look around then found the dealer to ask some questions....good start :). However, the rant begins. Minus a few garages some of the places were unbearable.

How annoying is it when you've barely set foot out the car and there smugly approaching from nowhere enquiring if you need any help...I don't know yet, I havn't even looked! Or when you tell the dealer you're just having a look so they hover and follow you about. But the worst for me was when they tell you about an amazing deal and you think its too good to be true...and it is!! You can see the sign where it says £8000 and the guy is like ignore it thats including VAT, the deal is £750 deposit and £95 for 3 years and thats it. In returning I ask is there something you forgot to tell us...does a stutter and says I dont think so....is it a lease? He says yes...but you won't be driving over 6000 miles will you? and you'll probably want to exchange it after 3 years no? Thinking you dont know me dude why would you think that. And thats just one example.

Luckily there was that moment after a long search where just when I was about to get a car for the need of it, I think I may have found 'the one'. Annnnd the dealer was totally to the point (and supported rangers! Lad) and was the one that figured out what happened with the previous deal.

Anyways, I know the dealers are trying to earn a living and that there more than likely to be full of knowledge but back off guys. If I want to know something I'll ask! I'm not buying a new pair of shoes or new makeup...if I'm going to give you money at least give me space..thats all :)

The inconvienence of rain!

Making this one a short rant because once I start I might never stop! But how much has the weather just flipped it was literally like overnight it went from being dull but humid to absolutly freezing! And the rain...

Already the situation of turning on the heating is dominating conversation everywhere you go and its only September!! In just 24 hours weve passed the stage of wearing 3 jumpers, snuggling under a blanket and hugging a hot water bottle...the heating is on!! Which means already we are all worrying about what bills have to come this winter...sigh!!

However the worst part for me the now is the rain!! Most of the time I have access to the car but for those times I dont...cue the rain! Luckily I'm usually on the way back from wherever but when you have to be somewhere and have to walk in the rain, your hairs a mess, your clothes are wet (and your therefore wet and cold for aaaggeeesss) and you end up totally pissed off! The other thing that is annoying right now is that every time I do a washing it decides to rain. I HATE RAIN!

I can honestly say I am dreading winter and will defiantly continue to sit in my shorts and vest top as I do everyday shivering and will not give in to the onset of winter!!

Travelling via train

Getting the train for me is somewhat the most convenient way to travel. You dont have to worry about parking, there usually quite regular, you can travel easily in large groups BUT there are also a million and one things that piss me off about the whole travelling by train situation.

Firstly, getting to the station. Luckily my mum is a bit of a babe and 99% of the time is available to transfer me to the station. But for those times there is no-one available, a long walk or an unconvenient bus journey has to take place. As I very rarely travel lightly I have suitcases and bags to haul around which causes me quite a bit of stress especially in getting to the station.

So, when you get there (especially in the bigger citys like edinburgh) you find youve arrived with only minutes to get your ticket, find the platform and get on the train. Without fail I never have money so have to trek to the cashpoint because the machines dont accept debit cards which is like the only card everyone carries with them! Youd think they would have changed that by now!! Eventually you have money but find there is huge queues at the machine (and if there isnt a queue and the machine is available, 9/10 it rejects your money!) So I get to the ticket office and theres a short queue but it takes just as long to get the ticket because there are tourists asking pointless questions about different types of tickets or what not....I'm mentally screaming MOOOVEEEEE IT!

Ticket bought, I'm rushing to the platform which usually if I'm really running late happens to be at the opposite end of the station! In waiting on the train, everyone is impatiently edging towards the edge of the platform hoping the spot they have chosen is where the door is going to stop. Then comes the thing that 100% irritates me everytime I get the train! As the train pulls up, everyone waiting to get on the train barricades the doors barely giving those getting off at the stop a chance to get off the train. Then everyone pushes onto the train, those with children shoving there kids on to find a table seat. It seriously drives me mad!! More ofte than not the train isn't even busy and when everyone is seated the train is still half empty...what is the need?!?!

The only thing your hoping now is that your not trapped in a carriage with someone with B.O or any screaming kids (especially when your hungover). Finally, the mission is underway and theres only the unknown to come throughout the journey. Whose going to get on and off. For me theres always someone who stares at you the whole way through the journey, always someone with the most annoying accent that wont shut up, and always someone with there ipod in with the music so loud theyd be as well just using speakers.

I think the people who get on the train could be justified whith a whole seperate rant but for me, I'm always happy when I've reached my destination and I can get back my own personal space! I no longer have to check my pocket every 2 mins to make sure I havnt lost my train ticket or avoid awkward eye contact with random strangers. I'm sure everyone has there own view on train experiences but for me its a completely irritating experience!

Parking...I hate it!

Parking appears to be a big issue for me! When doing my driving lessons many years ago, niaevity and inexperience gave me the confidence to just do what I was told whether it be parallel parking, reverse parking or whatever. Then for some reason (and I'm sure its not just me) when you pass your test you find yourself parking miles away from the shops/any onther cars 'incase the car gets bumped' but really because you dont want to park next to another car.

Having not needed to drive for 4 years my driving skills appear to be somewhat limited and its a total pain in the ass!! Reverse parking is forgotten about as soon as you pass your test but really its a skill that would make parking so much easier. I find myself parking an extra 200m away from the perfect space not only because I can't remember how to reverse park but I'm embarrased incase anyones watching or is behind me (as I know when someone takes ages to park I'm screaming out the window...why do you have a license!?! lol). As well as this even paralled parking has become an issue: if there is 1 space between 2 cars I'll drive past incase I bump 1 of the cars while driving in. You'd think I was driving a bus!!

Anyways  moral of the story...I need to man up! Mabye I'll book a driving lesson to practice my parking...

Wearing your watch on your ankle...

Wearing a watch used to be somewhat of a practical accessory for simply telling the time or monitoring the time it took you to go for a run. Through the process of evolution watches have progressed from something practical to a fashion accesory.  Being a 90s kid owning a 'Baby G' watch was seen as cool. It told the time, it had an alarm, a stopwatch and the best bit, it had a button that when pushed was a backlight. But now a watch is simply an accessory which half the time sports a face which dominates your arm yet the roman numerals are so small and basic that your actually guessing the time.

Then there were those designers whom decided to take it that step further turning watches into alternate jewellery such as finger rings and neck watches!! Thank god its not went as far as clock earings (or not that I have seen). However just as this process of evolution appeared to have reached its peak as an accessory I came across a trend which initially made me laugh but now am definetly going to sport.

Joey Essex....wearing your watch on your ankle! Like where do you think of such things. Often people wonder what goes on in my head but I defs would love to spend a day in the mind of Joey Essex!

People who know me know that 80% of the time I'm wearing shorts and that I wear heaps of jewellery therefore I have no room often to wear a watch....but my problem has been solved! I need a new pink Casio so I can wear it round my ankle. Why did I not think of this before?! Genius! Only thing is....do I need to buy a special watch to fit? I do have skinny ankles? hmmmmm...

First day at a new job

Everyone experiences that first day at a new job! Walking into the unknown, wondering if your going to like it and who your going to meet. Since I turned 18 I've always had a job in a pub or a club, since graduating and moving home I decided to continue down this path as its always a relatively fun job and I dont want a 'proper' job yet. But you still have those 'special' moments on your first day.

Having worked for the company a few years ago and having gained experience behind the bar over time I managed to spare myself the usual blonde moments. One however was when I entered the keg room to fetch the fruit from the fridge and for the life of me I couldnt find the light. Firstly I assumed it was automatic so I ran in and out a couple of times waving my arms around incase I was just a bit too small. Then I started feeling around all the walls like I was wiping them with an invisible cloth and just as I was about to give up there it was...right at the entrance infront of my face! Luckily no one seen!

The thing I find most interesting starting a job is sussing out the people. In this job everyone has been pretty welcoming but in previous jobs within a week you find yourself seeing different dynamics within a week. You always have to watch what your saying when you first start just incase you say the wrong thing about a wrong person. You have to listen to others bitch about one another and not comment whether it be about someone always calling in sick or someone taking too long for there break.

In previous first shifts I have always found myself asking the most ridiculous questions or constantly messing things up (like the time I put a food order through and forgot to save it and 45 minutes later they still didn't have their food!). But the worst which I'm sure everyone will agree with especially in a pub job, is when it's a quiet first shift and you feel like a spare part feeling like you want to do something but have not a clue what to do! Thankfully none of this occured and the only problem I had this time was trying not to be a pain in the arse know it all! I mean when youve worked in a bar, youve worked in a bar, even the till systems were pretty much the same, not that I'm complaining :P Overall pretty decent first day, if only they were all the same!

Cleaning!

Cleaning...a process that is not of choice but a necessity! There have been times where cleaning has been somewhat theraputic and on occasion fun when at uni and its a team effort. But the majority of the time its a mundane task which I personally avoid!

This morning I woke up with great intention and already an hour later I'm pissed off!

First I put a washing on..Struggling to get the load to the machine, I nearly fell flat on my face tripping over everything I dropped on the way. When everything was finally in the machine I popped in one of the little capsules, some fabric softner, set the machine and started the wash. Then I turn around to find the capsule had rolled back out of the machine and was lying on the floor. In a quick panic I turned the machine off but it wouldnt let me in. After fiddling around finally I got in and luckily managed not to flood the floor. So, the washing is on! Next...

The bathroom...Whose idea was it to invent clear shower doors? I cleaned them from the inside, I cleaned them from the outside, then the inside, then the outside.....and there are still steaky bits!! By this point the floor is like a swimming pool. Then the loo, it speaks for itself...boke! The window sill (which we use as a shelf) having to remove everything to put it all back up. While returning all those pointless things to their place (i.e. 3 of dads hair gels which I'm sure he doesn't use as he hardly has any hair) I managed to knock my electric toothbrush out the window. Sneaking outside in the tiniest pjamas, of course its somehow landed at the top of the drive. The toothbrush in a gonner! Completely annihilated, total destruction :(. The sink I managed to clean without any drama until I replaced the soap which I managed to get everywhere so had to clean it all again. By the time I got to the mirror I gave up!

In addition to the stress of cleaning ive managed to chip my nails, gain a couple of bruises and my hands are screaming out for hand cream! For those who enjoy cleaning I envy you and for those who like my mother are obsessed with cleaning (even though she doesnt think so) I dont know how you do it. Owell another few rooms to go...thank god I live in a flat and not a house!

That annoying song that gets stuck in your head!

You know when a song, advert or expression gets stuck in your head! Im suffering from day 3 of this annoyance.

Usually its an annoying advert that gets stuck in your head whether it be 'we buy any car . com' or 'go compare' or who remembers the budwiser advert 'whaasssssssuuuuuupppppp' and you'd run around like a complete tool using it instead of hello! lol. Even the silly tune off the direct line advert that had the wee red phone has served its time.

Then theres the song that comes into your head randomly and stays there for the day, often a silly one with repetative lyrics or one that you havn't heard in years. The worst though is when its a new song thats came out and its that one line you keep repeating and repeating over and over because you don't know the rest of the words. So frustrating.

A really common repetative habit, one which I'm guilty off, is abreviating words but actually using them in everyday sentences. I am frequently ridiculed for my use of 'LOL' and 'OMG' (popular one!) but the one I'm finding particularly irritating is 'YOLO', who is responsible for allowing people to add that to every sentence? I've came across a great number of people who didn't even know the meaning of the expression and just used it because it 'sounded cool'. My sister one day said to me something like 'did you watch gossip girl last night, YOLO' (not a direct quote). It doesn't even make sense lol, and shes not the only one. Even those who do know what it means feel the need to highlight on an hourly basis that you only live once perhaps to persuade you to go on a night out or to try a new milkshake as if stating that if you dont do it youll regret it when theres no second life!

So whats the annoyance in my head? A youtube video by two geordie lasses singing their own version of 'Call Me Mabye' by Carly Rae Jepson. Everyone who knows me knows I love a geordie and in particular the geordie slang and accent. When I seen the video someone had posted via facebook I was well excited, I think their version is better than the original. But it has dominated my speech the last few days - I've been singing it in the shower, randomly blurted out the chorus while watching tv, started singing it in the middle of sentences and sang it every 2 minutes on my night out at the weekend. 'Hey I just met ya like, and this is mental, so heres me number, so giz a ring will ya pet' quality! Its defs helped me improve my geordie accent (haha) but I need to stop or I'm going to end up haiting it! Anyways, I've added the video, if you havn't seen it already you should watch BUT be warned its highly addictive.

Missing the student life!

Its only been two months since I gradated and already I hate not being a student. As everyone heads back to uni for freshers I am envious knowing that my time has ended. There are lots of things I miss about student life with the major one being living in Edinburgh. Coming back to a small town is tough and its been a struggle settling back in...I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Its a Sunday...home town = Sunday day infront of the t.v....Edinburgh = day sesh at the pub watching the football potentially followed by a night out whether it be a stumble down to the piano bar or a drunken trip to the casino. I know what I'd rather be doing!

I miss the place where it was acceptable to go out all night, stay at the casino until 6 and rock on up to work still inebriated the next day where it was funny and then you do the same thing that night after work. Or when you turn up to uni half gassed and by the time you get home you have no idea what happened when you were there so it was pointless going in the first place! The days when it was sunny and the immediate plan is to get to the meadows a.s.a.p. followed by a pub crawl down the grass market. Going to random house parties and ending up spending time with the most random people that you never come across again. When everyone worked the weekends and week nights were the time for socialising. The list goes on!!

We all moan when we are at uni and pretty much do the bare minimum to get by (and then moan when we get our papers back with average grades claiming we put in so much effort i.e. 2 days instead of so many hours prior to handing it in lol) but I'm already missing it. I also miss having a healthy bank balance when my loan, bursary and payslip came in at the end of the month. Being able to fund having a fab social life, having a virgin active gym membership, being able to save up for tavelling/holidays/trips, and being able to buy nice birthday and christmas gifts. Not getting taxted on your wage (and getting huge rebaits if they do by accident :) ) or having to pay stupid things like council tax. The fact is...you're much more wealthy as a student!!

Owell it was good while it lasted. At least I have my student debt as a probable life long momento! The saddest part is that at the end of this month my student card runs out!!!! An official statment of no longer being a student!

For all you guys starting uni or going back...I hate you!! lol Enjoy :)

Suffering the pain of heels!

When living in Edinburgh going out at night was a regular 3-4 time a week thing. Since moving home 2 months ago I havn't been out at all...until last night! Usually its waking up to the dreaded hangover thats the worst part but having not drank too much, waking up to sore tootsies was the worst part of this morning.

I've always loved wearing heels and they make an outfit look a million times better but I knew when I walked out the door sober and almost fell over 3 times that it was going to be an interesting night. As I was walking around last night (especially in the club) I was like Bambi on ice. While I was talking to people I was sliding and staggering about but somehow refrained from falling over. Definitely sure people thought I was plastered though! Honestly when you see us girls rolling around the floor its nothing to do with the alcohol, its the shoes! Then towards the end of the night that burning ' I need to take my shoes off ' feeling took over. I totally understand why people take their shoes off but I never take my shoes off. Instead I sported the 'walking like I had a heavy nappy on' look until I finally made it to the car.

Why do us girlies do it? Do we really look good stumbling around on stilts? Is it worth the pain the next day? To be fair it depends on the shoe, but those I was sporting last night I think will be hiding out in the cupboard for a while. One thing I would recommend is Scholl Party Feet gel cushions. Last time I used them the balls of my feet didn't hurt as much :). Its times like this I wish I was still on holiday where every night sore tootsies are no issue, flats are the norm and those in heels dont only suffer but look a tad silly. Owell can't wait until the next night out!

Spiders!

So I know I'm not the only one that bursts the voicebox screaming at the sight of a spider be it big or small! But recently its just taking the piss! They are everywhere!

The other moring I was lying in bed and at the other end of the room I thought I seen something move but ignored it. Next thing the biggest spider ive seen in a very long while comes floating down on a string of web like its absailing landing quite happily on my washing pile. Panic set in and instinctively I picked up the spider spray killer lying by my bed and proceeded to spray copius amounts until I was convinced it must be dead and also that I was choking to death from the fumes! Later inspection that night by my dad showed that the spider was gone...did I disintigrate it? was it still alive?

To continue, last night watching tv, not 1 but 2 huge thick bodied, skinny leg monsters casually strolled out from under the couch to join our company (both within half an hour) which resulted in my sister and I hopping about on the couch scared to set foot on the floor. The final straw was this morning when my sister pulls out a towel from the cupboard and the biggest one yet appeared and suffered the attack of the killing spray.

Luckily dad has been around in these unfortunate situations to dispose of these harmless but terrifying creatures! But there have always been those times where you've been in alone and called everyone in your phonebook begging them to come round to kill the beast (even those you havn't contacted in 2 years or so) or posting pleading facebook messages hoping someone will come and save you.

Then the madness continues...does anyone else turn on the light and inspect the room before walking in...or flush the toilet before you use it just incase that spider that was flushed down there comes crawling back up? These harmless little buggers are going to be the death of me!

Final note: leave me alone!!

Alarms!!!!

As I was falling asleep last night I was catching up on episodes of the Edinburgh comedy fest and I vaguely remember a comedian sharing his resentment of your alarm going off in the morning. Having had two months of moving home and being unemployed I have had the 'luxury' if you like, of not having to set an alarm each morning.

However... today I was one of those 'need to set and alarm' days. Pretty sure its not just me but the alarm went off. I pressed snooze. The alarm went off again. I pressed snooze again. As there is only a short time between each snooze I then reset my alarm for 10 minutess later. But in trying to get that extra 10 minutes sleep, you lie there wondering how long you have left so your not actually sleeping and instead your worried the alarms not going to go off or you've set it for the wrong time. So in the end you just get up and you've spent about 20 minutes thinking about that extra 20 minutes sleep instead of actually sleeping! What are we actually going to gain from that extra few minutes lying there?

We all do it though right?

Luckily all I had to do was get up, drop mum off at work so I could borrow the car, and now home again and all nicely snuggled up (lazy lazy!!). But next week when I start working...I can safely say I am DREADING the alarm going off!

Whats the point in sunbathing?!

Every year (or two) that time of comes when you can't wait to go on holiday away from the good old Scotish weather so you can come back with a golden tan that makes everyone envious!

Whether you come back a 'bronzed beauty' or 'golden goddess' as me and my girlie put it on our most recent holiday, what really is the point?! After missing the sun the first 2 days of our holiday due to 2 crazy nights out which resulted in epic hangovers we finally made it out to get our tan on. After spending the whooolleeee day out in the sun cleverly thinking a combination of SPF 15 and factor 6 oil would be fine (as you do!) in the 35o sunshine both of us had achieved rewardable tan lines.

The majority of the rest of the holiday however we both suffered luckily mild cases of tight skin and hot flushes from our new 'tans', myself more so than my girl. Despite this of course, your still on holiday in the sun and you want to top your tan up at every available moment, so you bear it just to get that little bit darker hoping that the aftersun will work its magic so you can continue the following day.

Then on returning home you know the inevitable is looming so you start applying numerous layers of moisturriser trying to avoid it. And then.....you start to peel! sigh! After a few weeks of peeling and being back in sunny Scotland applying ridiculous amounts of moisturiser (jumping around in ridiculous positions trying to reach your back) and perhaps even sneaking a cheeky sunbed to try and keep your tan, your back to looking like youve never been away! Why do we do it??? Its like having the worst hangover and saying your never going to drink again! Owell bring on next year.

Chipped Nails!

The first issue I am in the process of combating is chipped nail varnish!!

I've always had well kept nails but over the years, working in bars and being a sports student has led to them being severely split and weak. Every time I apply nail varnish its in a hurry so usually its untidy, all over my hand and smudges as i get impatient waiting for it to dry. In addition to this where my nails are split it usually takes less than an hour for them to chip no matter how good the varnish is!

Soooo, years ago I used to use O.P.I nail strengthener so had a little scout online to see what was similar. I found 'O.P.I start to finish' which acts as a base coat/top coat/nail strengthener. It cost £13.50 from Boots and after just a short search I feel I have found the perfect solution to stop nail varnish chipping. I filed my nails down (trying to keep them short until they are no longer split) got rid of the long neglected cuticles (if anyone knows an effective way of doing this or any utensils good for it let me know) and quickly buffed my nails (also need a new buffer if anyone knows any good ones).

In painting my nails I firstly applied a layer of 'O.P.I start to finish' as a base coat, which claims it protects the nails from staining and also acts as a strengthener. I then used 'Rimmel Lycra Pro' in a deep purple shade and applied 2 layers, taking my time as my application is usually horrendus. I then applied another layer of 'O.P.I start to finish' on top which was said to give it a shiny finish and help prevent chipping. Finally I sat still for over half an hour (yes actually!!) knowing how clumsy I am and then spent the next 2 hours trying not to touch anything incase I accidentally chipped my nails lol.

Overall...I am totally impressed!! Its been almost 2 days and not a chip in sight despite my nails still currently being split. They dried quickly and have a nice shiny finish. I havn't taken it off yet so not sure if it prevents staining but overall it is 100% worth £13.50. It is also the first time I have used this shade of nail varnish and it looks stunning. The brush made it really easy to apply in 3/4 strokes and only cost £3.50 (it was £6.99 for 2) from Superdrug. I am now currently in search of unique colours and reliable brands if you know any??

Will update on how long it lasts and whether it stains or not at a later date :)

**Soooo my nails lasted 3 whole days without chipping and only very minor chips on day four. The varnish also came off easily and the base coat did prevent the varnish staining my nails. OPI start to finish is a must for non chipped nails :)**

Let Loose!

First post of a new blog!

A blog is always started with good intention and slowly gets forgotten about as time becomes precious! Lets see how this one goes!

As a totally random person people frequently say 'Lisa, I'd love to know what goes on in your head' which I can only guess is down to my random, inappropriate, out of context outbursts. It may be about anything! So to prove im not the only one who likes to rant and that people agree with me I plan to post when things annoy me or I feel something has to be shared.

In addition to these posts, additional posts will include reviews of recent purchases. For the last couple of years I lived in the amazing city of Edinburgh. Studying became more intense, I was working more hours in the bar I worked in and my social life was amazing. As a result my vanity became largely neglected, I always had chipped nail varnish, dull skin, minimal make up etc. Having now graduated and sadly moved home I feel its time to start taking better care of myself. Throughout this process I aim to keep you posted on both good and bad finds which may also help you guys out :) I would also appreciate any suggestions on any type of product you love to use whether its a lip gloss, pretty underwear or a really good eyelash glue.

Lets get ranting and reviewing <3
